Autumn Statement 2023 representation - Mileage allowances

The ATT has submitted an Autumn Statement 2023 representation on mileage allowances. 

Following our previous submission for the March Budget, we have repeated our calls for the Government to increase the amount that drivers can be paid tax-free for using their own car for work. The current rates have been unchanged for over 12 years, during which time the cost of running a car has increased substantially. 

Our recommendation is that all of the mileage rates set out in legislation should be increased to better reflect the current costs of running and maintaining a personal vehicle. The rates for all modes of transport (including motorbikes and bicycles) should be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
