ATT Qualification

To complete the ATT Qualification, students must achieve:

  1. Passes in the two compulsory Certificate Online Exams (Paper 1 Personal Taxation and Paper 2 Business Taxation)
  2. Passes in the three compulsory Computer Based Examinations (Law, Professional Responsibilities & Ethics and Principles of Accounting) 
  3. A Pass in any one of the other four Online Exams (Paper 3 Business Compliance, Paper 4 Corporate Taxation, Paper 5 Inheritance Tax, Trusts & Estates or Paper 6 VAT)

All exam passes/exemptions must be simultaneously valid.

The validity of the Online Exams is six sessions (three years) from the sitting they were passed at e.g. a paper passed at the May 2018 session will be valid up to and including the May 2021 session.

It is recommended that you sit the CBEs in Principles of Accounting, Law and Professional Responsibilities and Ethics at an early stage of your ATT qualification to ensure you have a knowledge of these topics to assist with your tax exams. Please note that once you pass the CBEs they are valid for four and a half years (nine exam sittings) until the expire.

ATT Membership

On achievement of the ATT Qualification and with two years' practical tax experience, students can apply for ATT membership. Members are entitled to use the designatory letters 'ATT' after their name and the descriptive title 'Taxation Technician'.
