Press release: Influential tax body grows to a record 8,000 members

8 April, 2016

The Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) is delighted to reach 8,000 members – its highest ever number.

Elizabeth Ashcroft’s decision to join ATT has taken the total number of current members to the all-time high. Elizabeth attended the ATT President’s Reception, held at The Honourable Artillery Company, in London, yesterday (April 7), to celebrate the ATT’s achievement.

She is now part of a charity that draws on its members’ practical experience and knowledge to contribute to consultations on the development of the UK tax system and seek to ensure that the tax regime is workable and as fair as possible to members of the public. Another key aim of ATT is to provide an appropriate qualification for individuals who undertake tax compliance work.

Michael Steed, ATT President, said:

“This is great news because it shows that taxation is an attractive career choice and people want to be part of a community of tax experts.

“The more members we have the more able we are to pursue our primary charitable objectives to promote education and the study of tax administration and practice.

“Since our formation in 1989, we have attracted members who work in private practice, commerce and industry, government and academia.

“I would like to welcome Elizabeth Ashcroft to the ATT and thank our staff and branches for their determination to grow our membership.”

To join the ATT, someone needs to have passed the Association’s examinations and obtained two years’ professional experience in tax.

New member Elizabeth Ashcroft, of Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, works for Ashcroft Design & Construction.
