Making Tax Digital - know the essentials with the ATT's Frequently Asked Questions
The ATT has compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD) to help taxpayers and agents understand what MTD will mean for them, and what they can do to get ready.
Taxpayers with gross self-employment and/or property income over £50,000 will need to comply with MTD from April 2026. Those with total turnover from these sources of more than £30,000 will be brought into MTD a year later, from April 2027. Our FAQs explain how and when this income is measured, and cover the essentials individuals and agents need to know to help them get ready.
The FAQs page will be added to as April 2026 draws closer. It joins a growing number of MTD resources on our website, including the ATT's guide for agents on how to get ready for MTD.
All our MTD resources are available via our MTD for Income Tax homepage, so keep an eye out there for the latest updates.
