Message from HMRC:

Contractors needed to participate in HMRC research
HMRC are currently looking at how the Construction Industry Scheme can be simplified and improved. To inform our work, we are planning some qualitative research to understand contractors’ experience of administering the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), particularly where they have fluctuating reporting requirements.

We are interested in speaking to contractors, [people] responsible for administering the CIS within a business, or agents who deal with the CIS on behalf of contractors or construction/property groups.

Volunteers must have relevant experience of making decisions about some or all of the following within the last 6 months:
• filing nil returns;
• setting a period of inactivity; and/or
• deregistration

To participate in this research you must be currently compliant with the scheme and have no outstanding penalties with HMRC.

The research sessions will be a 60-minute remote interview and will take place between 7 April – 17 April 2025.
