Notifying HMRC of employees’ hours worked – all change but not just yet!

16 August, 2024

In our April 2024, Employer Focus article ‘Notifying HMRC of employees’ hours worked – all change’ we advised that from April 2025, employers would be required to provide HMRC with more detailed employees’ hours data through their PAYE Real Time Information returns.

Owing to the General Election, HMRC now believe that there is insufficient lead-in time for businesses, employers, and software providers to prepare for an April 2025 implementation. Therefore, employers will now not be required to start providing this information until April 2026 at the earliest.

Whilst the ATT welcomes this pragmatic extension, we continues to have concerns that this measure will increase costs for all employers for no benefit to them and have unclear benefits to Government.
